I am fairly new to this passionate little enclave of military watch collecting, but I've managed to accumulate a few of my favourites, and I've learnt a lot in a short time. Please check them all out in the photo link below. The watches I still yearn for are the JLC Mk X1, the IWC Mk X1, the '53 Omega Thin Arrow, and a Rolex 5517. There are many others, of course, but those top the list. I've also owned and passed along a Smiths, a Hamilton 6B (a truly great watch), some Seiko Dives, a Contra, and others, all gradually trading up and thinning out. I hope to end up with about six of the best, but it's going in the wrong direction and my sock drawer overfloweth.
On the personal side, I'm an architect and screenwriter, originally from Britian, living in Vancouver with my family and dog.

It's not much of a collection, considering I only have two actual military watches... so far. A 2000 Marathon Canadian Coast Guard and a 2001 CBP Navigator for a g-man to kick around in. Spend the rest of my plentiful government-issued time to collect ladies with the watches.

Liked the milstyle for a while, but only within the last few months have I obtained some actual issue watches. MWR has furthered my interest and understanding of milwatches, and it's fun too!
Another area of watch interest is 180 degrees with respect to milwatch rarity and "quality," namely inexpensive consumer-type watches, especially Timex from 50s-70s, as well as any oddly attractive, wearable mechanical watch which somehow strikes my fancy. More than anything in this hobby/interest I am just blown away by the seemingly endless variety of watches which just seem to show up, just when you thought you might have seen 'em all...

I started looking at this site in order to find a military watch as a way of identifying myself as a "former" soldier. Somewhere along the way I became addicted and now I love watches. Since becoming a lurker here I've bought a Hamilton 46374D (in excellent shape from Ronbo), Seiko SKX173 dive watch, Hamilton Auto (6B look-alike), and a Luminox World-Time.
I have gotten some great info from those on this site and really enjoy the exchange of information here. If I stay at Ft. Benning and do not head off to SW Asia, I plan on finding a computer so I can continue to enjoy this site.

I am 54 years old, retired financial planner/broker, married, 2 grown adult children.
I have been "cheaply" addicted to watches all my adult life (i.e. Seiko, Pulsar, Citizen, anything under $300 that had complications, chronograph functions, etc.), but I started seriously being Horology weak when I purchased a Rolex GMT II, then a Breitling, and the madness began. After I got to all these websites and found that the disease was world wide and pervasive, I have spent TOO much time on the net, and have been PAYPAL buying individual pieces and equipment, tools, bands, books, magazine subscriptions, etc. ever since.
My wife may kill or divorce me soon, the UPS and FEDEX guys call me by my first name, and I have now discovered the >Military side of this illness, and am very interested. I always had a penchant for masculine, sports, type pieces anyway.
I have about 30 pieces and am NOT able to part with any so I guess I do not qualify as a trader, just a buyer.

Hi, my name is Jim, and I'm a milwatch-aholic.
I think it all started in 1981 when I was issued a Hamilton Mil-W-46374B. After that was stolen, I went on the wagon for quite a few years, with only a Seiko Dive watch to keep me company. I fell off when a discussion on a gun collector's mail list turned to military watches, and someone posted the URL for County Comm.
I started simple, buying just one watch, a Stocker & Yale 660 from Frank and Nick. I thought I could stop after just one, but the desire for another was too strong. I soon discovered eBay, and the plethora of military watches available there. Next came a 1972 vintage Hamilton similar to the one I was issued, and after that it was all downhill...

I'm located in Cary, NC. On the outskirts of Raleigh/Durham. By day I'm a restaurant general manager for Red Hot & Blue, a casual Bar-B-Que concept.
By night however, I toil endlessly Frankening watches. My interest was rekindled about 18 months ago with the restoration of a family heirloom. My great Uncle Jack's Hamilton Pacer had been left for dead since 1962. Rene Rondeau tweaked it up minty and I've been hooked since.
The whole Frankening concept is very creative for me and I enjoy assisting others in realizing their custom watch goals.

Once again I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and others for making this site possible. I am a resident of Manassas, Virginia. As a former ?Army brat? and Vietnam combat veteran, the military has been a significant part of my childhood and experience and eventually led me to MWR. Although I do not consider myself a watch collector (I buy my watches to wear and wear them all), as a MWRine for almost three years I have managed to gather a modest assembly of watches including issued watches, frankened watches and mil-style watches. Of greater importance however, has been the camaraderie, friendship and education others have so willingly shared throughout my association with this website. The value of my watches to me has more to do with their connection to fellow MWRines as with any other consideration. As always, best regatds to all.

Will leave my watch addicted son lots of great watches, and credit card bills, the day I don't wake up above ground. It was great... wearing my SAR to Canada, through Canadian Customs and thanks to Vince's advice finding some "World Series" coffee and choclate mousse cake on the streets of Montreal. Great reading, enjoy the info, and what a great distraction when work gets boring (whoops).

My primary hobby has been photography since 1973. I use and collect Minolta manual bodies and lenses, as well as related stuff. I started collecting (mil-)watches in 2002 and I have discovered that I like the Soviet/Russian Vostoks a lot. Their big advantage over brands like JLC, IWC, Rolex and the like is that they are very affordable; also they are quite distinctive in design.
